Welcome! My name is Donna Triggs and I am Founder and Artistic Director of Goblin Market Theatre Company. I trained in acting at the JB Priestley Centre, and moved naturally from there to the role of director and producer. My adult acting credits include Isabella in 'Measure for Measure' and Nora in 'A Doll's House'; as a child I was invited to perform in front of Princess Anne at St George's Hall, Bradford. My writing, production and direction credits include adapting, directing and producing an audiobook version of Dame Julien of Norwich's 'Revelations of Divine Love', read by BBC TVs Sister Wendy Beckett. I also recently worked with Origin Pictures on 'No Pain Whatsoever' - a film shot on location in Norfolk in association with Creative Skillset, starring Valene Kane and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
Since moving to Norfolk I have been involved in the direction of a number of theatrical performances at the Maddermarket Theatre, including most recently King Lear and Cyrano de Bergerac, and in 2015 I was offered the prestigious 'Difference' scholarship to study an MA in Theatre Directing at the University of East Anglia. I am involved in promoting educational and school projects with both the Writer's Centre Norwich and Inspired Youth, and worked on the Norfolk School's Project in conjunction with the Norwich Theatre Royal and John Hurt.
My vision for Goblin Market is to engage with community events and issues in creative, proactive and thought-provoking ways. Our project A Day in the Death of Joe Egg is a great example of how we work with local communities to engage bravely and unflinchingly with current events.
